Brachial neuritis
The label brachial neuritis – is a bad one. It involves nerve entrapment in the neck and affects the brachial plexus or nerve bundle leaving the neck and travelling down the arm. You may get pain that is felt in the arm, that is brachial pain. The patient is usually 35 to 60 and states that after a bout of a week or two of accustomed pain in one shoulder-blade, then the pain gets worse and travels down the arm to the hand, often causing pins and needles in some of the digits.
The pain become increasingly severe for some weeks, then remains bad for another four to six weeks, is worse at night and prevents sleep.
Examination shows that some of the neck movements hurt in one shoulder-blade, exactly as they would have done before the pain spread down the upper limb.
Remedial massage can help greatly with these kinds of conditions/ailments. It is recommended as part of a treatment plan that you have at least 3 to 4 treatments spaced apart depending on the severity of the pain. Some people will need to come two times a week.
Once the pain has gone, the muscles recover their strength im the course of the next few months. To start with, pressure of a protruded disc on a nerve-root is a very disagreeable condition, but should not cause despair, for it does not recover fully in the long run, without treatment.
